Juices You Can Make Now & Drink Later
Many of you ask me the same question over and over. Can we make juice in the morning and save it for later? My usual answer is… I really don’t recommend it. Why? Because juices have its most nutritional value when it’s freshly made. Not to mention the BEST taste. BUT… there still are some juices you may be able to save for later. With the right ingredients – and the right techniques – you can stay healthy all day long!
What to Juice
Okay, the first thing you need to know is which fruits and vegetables are okay to save for later. You should only save juices for a few hours at most. So make it in the morning and save it for lunch if you are time constricted. Some of them do not refrigerate well, lose too many nutrients if not drank right away, or begin to stink up your refrigerator if there for too long. I would recommend using the following ingredients for your save for later juices.
| carrots | grape | prune |
| apples | grapefruit | peach |
| oranges | pineapple | celery |
| pear | kiwi | beet |
On the other hand, stay away from these ingredients. But don’t completely take them out of your juice regiment because some of these are among the healthiest fruits and vegetables you can use, like greens. Just mark them as a drink now juice.
| cabbage | onions | berries |
| lettuce | garlic | cherries |
| greens | mangoes | melons |
| potatoes | papaya |
Seal in the Nutrients
Now that you know which ingredients to use, it’s time to learn how to store them so they taste fresh and have the most nutrients possible. One of the reasons juices lose their nutritional value is because the oxygen in the air oxidizes it, destroying them. There is a way to help prevent some of the oxidization. It’s called an airtight container. You can try this simple container from Walmart. But to really get the best results, I would recommend using a vacuum-sealed airtight container. The vacuum-sealed container does a better job keeping the oxygen out. Try these from Bed, Bath & Beyond.
Preserve the Taste
Keep the taste fresh as well by adding just a drop of lemon juice to your juice before placing in the refrigerator. Lemon juice helps the juice stay fresh and tasty for a few hours.
Now you know I couldn’t leave you without a few juices. Here are some great juices you can definitely mark as Save For Later…
