0510 : Jack LaLanne's Power Juicer Express Review

We drink a ton of juice in our house. It's something I always have stocked in the freezer, as well as the pantry. No matter how much I enjoy certain pre-made juices, it just doesn't have the rich, full-flavor that fresh juice offers. Jack LaLanne's Power Juicer Express is a wonderful compact juicer 14.5"x12" 16" that will fit easily in any cramped kitchen. I don't have to tell you the benefits of consuming fresh fruit and vegetables. But I will say that getting them via juice is by far one of the easiest ways to get your daily dose. Especially if you have picky kids! One of the common misconceptions regarding juicers is that they are incredibly expensive. That's just not the case. The Jack LaLanne line of Power Juicers has a model in everyone's price range!

The Power Juicer Express works by grinding all of the fruits and/or vegetables you add through the chute into a pulp. It hits the blade, then extracts the juice, sending it down the spout, while the pulp is sent to the container on the back. You can discard the leftover pulp in the compost, or surprisingly enough, you can actually use it for things like muffins!! Back to the blade. It actually looks like a grater, which I found fascinating. I was looking around for a single blade, and it turns out, the basket is the blade! Genius!

Express Features Include:

• Non-Drip Spout
• Sleek Compact Design
• Surgical-Quality Stainless Steel Blade
• Whisper-Quiet Operation
• Special Patented Extraction Technology delivers up to 30% more juice
  than other juicers*
• High Performance 3,600 RPM Induction Motor with a lifetime warranty
• Extra-Large Round Chute accommodates most fruits and vegetables
• Super-Sized Detachable Pulp Collector
• Dishwasher Safe
• Built-In Safety Features

Fresh Fruit ready for juicing!!

Apple-Pear juice!

I received a Jack LaLanne Power Juicer Express in Mulberry Red to review. It came with the "Secret of Power Juicing" recipe book, as well as the "Express Juicing" recipe book which I greatly appreciated since I am new to juicing. The machine is gorgeous! Pictures really do not do it justice. What I loved right away is that is wasn't made of cheap plastic. Let's face it, too many small appliances these days are extremely lightweight and obviously made to be replaced within a year. In other words: cheaply made! The Jack LaLanne Power Juice Express does not fall into that category! It's very sturdy and clearly made to last!

I took the juicer apart to thoroughly rinse before it's first use. It was very easy to disassemble. Just pull down the metal bar, remove the top, pull out the basket and you're done. Putting the Power Juicer Express back together was even easier! There is a clear plastic container on the back of the juicer than all of the pulp goes to that you simply pull out. I was so excited to start juicing! I took my three year old to the store and let her pick out all the fruit she wanted. I figured if I let her choose, she would be more likely to drink it! (And I was right!!)

Add whole fruits or veggies.

Watch as the juice flows out within seconds!

Vibrant carrot and orange juice.

Leftover pulp.

Using the Jack LaLanne Power Juicer Express was so much easier than I anticipated! All you have to do turn it on and let it run for 10 seconds before you add whatever fruits and veggies you plan on juicing. It has an extra large chute so you can toss everything in whole! (Super convenient!) Just place a glass underneath the spout, and start juicing! This was so ridiculously easy that my three year old was able to make her own juice. (With Mommy's guidance, of course!) Big bonus: It's quiet!!! I was expecting something much louder to come out of a juicing machine!! ;)

Here are some of my favorite juices:
Plain green grapes. Simple, but incredibly flavorful!
Carrot, orange and green apple.
And the yummiest of all: 2 gala apples, 2 granny smith apples and one green pear.

YUM-MY!!! You might want to keep in mind that you cannot put soft items like kiwi or banana in the juicer, (how do you juice a banana?!!) but you can puree them in a blender and add it to the finished juice. The possibilities with the Power Juicer Express are literally endless! I LOVE the Jack LaLanne Power Juicer Express!!

MY THOUGHTS: The Jack LaLanne Power Juicer Express is amazing! It's extremely affordable and right now you can get two for the price of one! (See below.) What a wonderul gift this would make! Once you enjoy freshly made juice, you'll never look back! You'll find yourself using your juicer every single day!
