Inspiring others on the path to good health

We all have a friend, family or loved one who could benefit from taking better control of their health.
As a user of The Power Juicer, you’re already making the decision to be healthy and strong – so how can you inspire someone else to do the same?
First thing is first, do not nag, insult or poke fun at the person. You might think those types of tactics would be motivating they are actually quite deflating.
So what to do?
Mentor them. Figure out the person’s ability and limitations. If the person is extremely out of shape and over-weight, signing up for a marathon or expecting them to make an extreme change is unreasonable. However, carve a few times a week out where you can take them under your wing for some activity. Even if it’s just a ten minute walk at first. Act as if they are doing you the favor by “getting out for some fresh air.” Gently tell them that you would love to help them achieve their health goals and that you are available to support them.
Challenge them. My sister was struggling with her own fitness and health goals and then I challenged her. I found a 5K 3 months out and told her if she could finish it in under 40 minutes, I would babysit her kids for a full weekend so she and her husband could take a mini vacation. The goal, challenge and reward kept her on track. She did the 5K in 38:15 and I’ve got the kids this weekend. Even more exciting, she dropped 15 pounds and has found a new love for consistent exercise.
Show them. Keep leading by your own healthy example, share with them healthy recipes, ask them to bring a healthy dish to a BBQ, subscribe them to your favorite health or fitness magazine, if you have the funds, buy them a PowerJuicer of their own or sign them up for a class they might enjoy like Zumba or Spin. Try to help them find the fun in fitness and the power in taking control of their health.
